Normally, I see St. Patrick’s day with kelly green, or garrishly bold color combos that I don’t find appealing. So, I decided to go the soft route for St. Patty’s day this year and I really like it!

The card on the left is definitely a 5 minute “quickie” (chuckle!), and the one on the right is a pre-fab 4 1/4″ square A Muse card that had an inch trimmed off to create a “different” size. I’m not sure what size envelope it would fit into, but I suppose it’ll have to be custom made. I personally don’t enjoy making envelopes, but on occasion will stamp pre-fab ones. I’m horridly lazy that way (insert rolling eyeballs here). I love how the teeny A Muse shamrock peeks out of the 1/2″ circle punch in the corner.

The one in the foreground is a “door” card, inspired by www.splitcoaststampers.com/go/carolina . I had a pale green Prima flower that had gotten a tad mangled, and so I trimmed off the offending petal, as I had a *very*momentary–and rare, mind you–flash of genius: a 4 leaf clover idea popped into my head–OK, now correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the elusive 4 leaf clover the one that is such a boon to find?? Hmmmmmm.

The patterned paper used on this design is by Memory Box Co. They make double-sided card stock that’s *uber* cool, but what I REALLY love is their text weight double sided papers.

The only problem with double sided paper, however, is if there’s a beautiful pattern on each side, I end up torn trying to determine which side to feature and feel like the back side is wasted if it’s the one that gets glued down and therefore hidden, UKWIM? Tsk tsk. One of the great paper crafting dilemas, I suppose . . . I must be the only moron out there, however, that frets over something like that! ROTFLMBO!!!!

  1. Julia, you can find Memory Box papers at a variety of stamp stores, such as http://www.impressrubberstamps.com

    Memory Box’s website is http://www.memoryboxco.com

  2. Hi Julie…
Love your blog — but, of course, I would ’cause I love your art!! Thank you for sharing your creative talent with everyone. I have a question for you. You mentioned Memory Box Co having the double sided text weight papers, but I can’t seem to locate Memory Box Co… are they a “part” of a different company? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Keep stamping, girl!!

  3. I love the tiny shamrock, too! Too cute…

  4. ahhhh – you’ve one upped me on that circle design Ü I LOVE the double layer!!! Pure genius!!

  5. These are great Julie. I love the colors you chose and the 4 leaf clover idea is fantastic (and yes, finding a 4 leaf clover is said to be good luck!)

  6. Once again, you have inspired me! LOVE the soft colors for St. Patty’s day … I also prefer them to the harsher tones. :) I also really love the new format of your blog!

  7. OOOOHHH…I like this format! Very nice indeed!
Great colors and cards for St. Patrick’s Day, your ingenuity is shining through, as always!

  8. *love* the colors on these, Julie! I also dislike the traditional St. Patty’s colors. And I’m 0% Irish, so I tend not to make any. I don’t believe I even own any stamps in the theme – except for the shamrock stamp you gave me at CHA.

These color combos are very inspirational! And the “four-leaf clover” idea is a stroke of genius. :)
