This was inspired by a comic strip my Mom sent me years back when I was a full-time high school Spanish Teacher. It just cracked me, and I’ve never forgotten it. My Mom clips these things that she thinks relate to what I, my hubby, or the kids might get a kick out of and sends them on occasion, in her letters or in a care package. Thank you, Mom! I love you for many reasons, but that is one of the most fun reasons I love you soooooooooo much!

Anyhoo, the comic shows these two guys gazing up at a sign that says “Learn to speak Spanish” and goes on about easy lessons, etc. The one guy sez to the other: “Oh, I already know how to speak Spanish! WE don’t need lessons! For example ‘Muchas gracias’ means you have a lot of grass!” There was one other line in that strip, but THAT’S the one that I always remember. I’m sure the other one will pop into my head when I’m NOT struggling to remember it . . . snort!

  1. Well, aren’t you just the most clever girl out there? :)
