Wrappedup
All images and note card by A Muse Art Stamps; Acetate (overhead transparency, office supply), 3/4" Square punch; Dimensional Foam Adhesive (3M); black fine tipe marker; Palette Hybrid Noir Ink; Sharpie White Paint Pen, fine tip.

Sentiment inside:  "Guess I’ve been a little wrapped up lately . . . "

I used a 3/4" square punch to make the window–I totally eyeballed it cuz I wanted a "wonky" window, kinda askew and whatnot, UKWIM?!  Then, I put some adhesive on the back, layered it to acetate and trimmed it out again.

Made a little pencil line where I wanted to position it on the purple panel, along the bottom of the window, and then set the window aside, and masked that pencil line with a Post It Note.  Stamped the mummy, colored him in with this fanstampmagorical new white pen I found–Sharpie Poster-Paint Pen, fine tip!  WOW!  This pen works pretty awesome, no flow problems, opaque effect.

Erased the pencil line and secured the window in place with tiny strips of foam mounting tape along the edges.  Then stamped the spider and drew a little strand for him to dangle from.

I *adore* Halloween.  It’s my hubby’s birthday and we have a ton of fun, deck the house, and GET SPOOKY, makin’ a little brew-hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Now, here’s one I did for Hayley’s boyfriend, who graduated last June and leaves for college tomorrow . . . he’s comin’ for dinner tonight . . . I’m so happy for him, but I’m kinda gonna miss him . . . Man, I’m such a SAP!!!!!

Wolfgrad

Wolf image ¬©Stampin’ Up!  Sentiment, source unknown . . . My hubby brought to my attention that the word "cooperate" has been misspelled and all these years I have never noticed that!!!!  I can’t believe it!!! (grimace); Staz-On Olive Ink; Memories Black Ink; acetate (overhead transparency, office supply); Double Rectangle Punch (SU!),  Wide Black Organdy (SU!); Vanilla and black card stocks (SU!).

The CHS mascot is the wolf, and when I stumbled across this sentiment, the very same year the wolf set (now retired) was released by SU!, I went AGOG!  I think it’s such a beautiful credo.

I have also used these images to create a framed piece of artwork for my husband’s office–he’s a middle school principal.  He told me that he actually used the lines from it at a training retreat for the staff, just prior to school starting this year, and how it tied in with his presentation about them working together as a team, with each other, with students, etc.  I ’bout fell down dead when he shared that–I was so touched!

Thanks to those who shared some reflections and memories with me in my post regarding 9/11.  I know that life moves on, and that we must move with it, as well, but sometimes, it is just good for the soul to pause, to remember, and to *feel* . . . {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}

  1. Hey Julie,
Love both of your cards however, I had to take a double-take at the CHS mascot wolf card. Our team here for my son is the Wolves and he playes Clarkston. (Ya getting the similarities…CHS, wolves, etc.).
Anyways, thank you again for sharing a part of your world with us! Hugs right back at ya!

  2. That mummy is TOO awesome! I love, love, love it!

I was just playing with window making today too! Weird! *laugh*

As for Halloween, it’s my favorite! Dave and I had a Halloween wedding … witch’s cauldrons filled with flowers for centerpieces … that sorta’ thing. My Mom thought I was nuts at the time, but was a good sport! *laugh* Man, that was a long time ago! Now I feel old again. *laugh*

  3. Julie, you rock! I am not an overly effusive, stalker-type person, but your blog is awesome and never fails to bring a laugh. Your work is so beautifully simple and clean; not my usual style, but I am aspiring to learn that sometimes ‘less is more.’

You elevate ‘rubbah’ to heights Planned Parenthood can only dream about! No wonder you are ‘JulieHRR.’ All hail the Queen of Rubbah-land! Peace and giggles to you-

  4. LOVE the mummy and wonky window! It would never have occurred to me to do anything but stress over positioning the punch just so. . . Leave it to you to make it wonky on purpose and have it work beautifully! I suppose that’s why you’re the Queen. ;-D

  5. OMG, I love this mummy/window card! I can’t find one of those stinking white Sharpie’s. *pout* I need it. Now more than ever!

    What a great masculine card!

  6. LOVE the mummy in the window!!! Where did you find the Sharpie Poster Paint pen?? Can’t wait to try it.

  7. Oh, okay. You can send me your halloween-y card! I LOVE IT! :) And the Wolf credo, too. Beautiful!

  8. Both are wonderful! Love the detail on the credo. Thank you for sharing!

  9. WOW, I love that Wolf Credo…BEAUTIFUL!! I know “the guy” will love it. Too bad about the misspelling…but the sentiment is great. I got lost somewhere in the mummy card “directions” ~~haha~~, not hard for me, but the card is FABULOUS! and I want one of those Sharpie pens! I’m a sucker for all good white pens! Don’t know how I lived without our Signo Gel pens before we had them…Thanks for the awesome creations! :)

  10. Julie, that Wolf Credo is beautiful! Too bad about the spelling boo-boo. I once bought a stamp I loved, but could never use it because the spelling error bugged me too much…the stamp read “Eat dessert first. Remember all the ladies on the Titantic…” Just couldn’t bear to stamp Titantic!!
