Hey, whaddya know?  It’s NOT a Halloween design!  chuckle!

This cozy little image is one of my all-time favorites.  Makes me think of a pretty, overstuffed chair in a storybook cottage.  (deep happy sigh!)  After stamping the chair/lamp image, I determined I wanted to break the sentiment up (it’s a single line).  I inked up the "thinking" part first, and stamped it above the chair, then I thoroughly cleaned the image.  I even tapped it against my scrap paper to make sure there was no residual ink anywhere on the image.  Then, I inked up the "of you" part, and stamped it to the right of the lamp.

I love being able to do that with a sentiment stamp–just makes it all the more versatile!

The images were colored in with Pebbles’ Shimmer Pastels (chalks)–they are soooooo pretty, and sparkly!  I love the effect, and wish you could see the glimmer that the camera just couldn’t pick up.  These are readily available online, and at well-stocked scrapbook/stamp stores.  Lovely, lovely stuff!

The tiny heart made the perfect little pillow to nestle into the chair; I wanted the recipient of this design to feel loved . . .

After all the stamping and coloring was done, I centered the scene into the punch–I always work with my punches upside down so I can see what I’m punching out and position everything as I want it.  Then, I decided to ink the edges, very delicately/reservedly with creamy brown chalk ink, just to give it a little definition.  But, the creamy brown just didn’t do it for me, (muttering, frowning) so I came back with the rose coral chalk ink, and took a chance applying it OVER the creamy brown, and it ended up having a nice antiquey sort of effect, muting and toning down the hue of the rose coral ink, as the two blended together.

Aaaaaah, yes.  Success.

Some of you folks have emailed me to let me know that you’ll be at A Muse’s Grand Opening this Saturday and taking some (or all) of the classes!  I’m so excited to get to meet you in person!  I’ve been designing up a storm and just DYING to share these great projects with you!!!  Saturday can’t come soon enough!!!  GOOD TIMES!!!!

Addendum:    A few folks have asked where to buy the McGill File Folder, Round Tab and Oval Slide Mount Punches, that I had shown in a previous post.  You can order them online at The Frantic Stamper  No, I haven’t had time to play with them yet. (chuckle!)

  1. Hey Julie! I have those shimmer pastels too, I love them, they are SO pretty. Wish I could go to the Amuse party, sadly I’ll just wait for your post about it. Have a great time!
