Pocket cards.  For a while there they were quite trendy and all the rage.  For that reason alone, I didn’t make any at that time!  snort!  I’m a stubborn wretch, sometimes, when it comes to doing what everybody else is doing, so I’ll deliberately go off in some other direction, wait until the dust settles, and then I come back and tinker.  Of course, pocket cards are old news and at this point everybody’s moved on to the next new thing, whatever it may be this week . . .  aaaaah, well.

They say polka dots and eyelets are "out" . . . I don’t care.  I still love them and I’ll use them forever.  Along with scallops and ric rac, and whatever else they say is no longer "fashionable" in paper crafting. (sheepish shrug)

Soooooooooo.  Guess why I love A Muse’s stitched daisy soooooooo much??? I mean, besides that "thing" I have for daisies???  Because it’s so dang versatile, of course!  I have longed and longed for a circle image, solid, with a stitching line running ’round it like that, and by punching out the center of the daisy with a 1 3/8" circle punch, I got what I wanted!  It reminds me of a those woven labels I think are so cute!  And, best of all?  I can put whatever sentiment I like centered in there, long as it fits!  Ooooooh, I get giddy over the possibilities . . . chuckle!

I decided to embellish the top of the vanilla tag insert by punching an oval out of patterned paper, and folding it over the top.  It looked rather plain and blended in too much with the patterned background, which was the same.  So, I added a little flower punch out, an eyelet, and some ribbon looped through it.

Isn’t it great how just a few extra touches can liven something up?  I love that. (happy sigh)

  1. awesome colors Julie!

  2. Forgot to say how much I love your card! I absolutely love your colors and ribbon and your always fabulous style!

  3. Dots and eyelets are out! NOW you tell me! I’ve been setting eyelets in everything with my new cropadile. I guess I really don’t care though…I’ve always been a bit dotty. You and I can be the last hold-outs K? Maybe with some serious work, we can even bring them back.:)

  4. Love your design and your attitude too! Gotta go with what your gut tells you. That’s one thing I love about you!

  5. This is really nice, Julie!

  6. Yes, those extra touches make a big difference in the hands of a talented stamper.

  7. Long live the polka-dots!!! (and scallops too…lately I can’t seem to make something without one or the other or both…LOL!)

What a lovely fall feeling this card has! Simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us! :)

  8. They say polka dots are OUT?!?! Say it ain’t so!! I love polka dots and I’m still gonna use them! They give such a fun touch, like the piece of polka dot ribbon you added to the tag! I love it! I absolutely adore this card! The flower is perfect and the color combination is beautiful!! I like how cute the shape of this pocket card is!
