Tiderecedes

My MIL’s dearest, bestest all-their-lives friend recently passed from cancer, and we will be attending the service this week, over on the neighboring island.  The card on the left is for my MIL, and a variation of it for each of her friend’s 3 sons is on the right.

I find "The Tide" to be such a beautiful poem and fitting to convey our condolences.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, here it is:

THE TIDE

The tide recedes, but leaves behind
bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth
still lingers on the land.
The music stops, yet echoes on
in sweet, soulful refrains.
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains.

The computer generated sentiment was printed on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, and layered with Cryogen White, which has a gorgeous shimmery "off-white" tone.  For additional texture, I die cut the seashells from lightweight coasters, left in their natural state.

I’m sure I’m the LAST one on the planet to finally get the Swiss Dots embossing folder–I just love the subtle, classic effect of this tiny dotted pattern, and thought it would be especially pretty on the more feminine design.

Some pearl stickers seemed to best suit the design I created for my MIL, and Twinkle Stickers were used to set off the design I created for Adele’s sons.

These cards are standard A-2 size (4.25 x 5.5")

Although these are intended for sympathy, I think the same overall design and theme could also work beautifully to celebrate a wedding.

And, HEY!  Thank you for all the good wishes for Dave and I on our Anniversary!   The Stevie Miller Band was absolutely FANTASTIC–Stevie sounds just like he did back when we were kids, I swear!  And, Joe Cocker, who opened, was AMAZING!  Truly outstanding performances by all, and if you’re a fan of either, and get a chance to attend, you will not be disappointed!  They rocked the concert hall!  A sweet little gramma who looked to be in her 70s was seated on my left, and she was shakin’ her booty right along with everybody else–I could not help but grin . . .  "You GO, Gramma!  You GO!"
