Do you save those dang gourmet instant coffee or chai tins, thinkin' you're gonna do sumpin' cool with 'em . . . at some point . . . ?  I do.  Of course, I don't turn 'em into anything clever . . . Oh, no.  I just put homemade instant gourmet coffee inside and give that way!  Bwah ha haaaaaaaaa!!!

I found this wonderful paper at Ink About It, when Linda and I taught there last month, and I just *had* to have it.  I kept looking at it, and pettin' it, and finally, could stand it no longer.  Anyhoo, this is from the "Be Merry" line by My Mind's Eye–lawdy, I do love their papers muchly!  I loved these colors–pretty any time, but especially fun at Christmas for sumpin' a wee bit different from the traditional red & green, UKWIM?

I made a few ornaments this week (one is peeking from behind the coffee tin), and even a gift card "wallet"!  FUN!

Supplies:  Stamps by A Muse Artstamps; Patterned paper (My Mind's Eye); Icicle Border Punch (Martha Stewart)

Homemade Instant Cappuccino

In a large container, mix the following ingredients:

  • 1 C. Instant Coffee Creamer

  • 1 C. Instant Chocolate Drink Mix (like Nesquik powder)
  • 2/3 C. Instant Coffee
  • 1/2 C. Sugar (I use Splenda)
  • 1/2 t. Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 t. Ground Nutmeg

To serve, mix 3 T. of cappuccino mix with 6 oz. hot water. Stir well.

WARNING: Highly addictive!

  2. You are so amazing!! And so is the coffee tin!! Also, thanks for the cappuccino recipe… I’m going to definitely have to try it.

  3. Hmmm, I save those darn cans too Julie, thinking I will do something with them, but never do!!!! Now I know what to do with them, that recipe sounds really YUMMY!!! You know you are killing me with the icicle punch!! I can’t find it anywhere in the stores around here!!! I love that paper too, it’s adorable on your can, someone is going to get lucky with your cute present!!

Did you make that ornament with a stamp, or just cut circles out and put together?

  4. Totally adorable creation and yes, I save way too many of those containers because “I am going to use them someday”!

  5. Julie this sounds great! I may make your recipe for neighbor gifts this year! I have diabetics on both sides of me so if I can find a sugar free cocoa this would be awesome!!!

  6. Very fun!!! I do LOVE this paper!!!!!!!! I might have to go searching this out.

Be careful when giving this instant coffee away that you let them know it has splenda in it. My uncle and I both get very sick when consuming splenda and have to look at EVERYTHING for splenda or sucralose. Sounds super yummy and will definitely be trying it with regular sugar! Thanks for the recipe!!! :D
