Jessica Witty is one of my favorite stampin' Divas–love her style! She also happens to be a PC Go To Gal and I was flattered to receive an email from her asking if I'd join in a blog hop for this special issue:

Go-to Sketches Cover

This was the sketch I was asked to work with:

Jessica's Sketch - Blog Hop

And, this is what I came up with!

I snagged some pretty patterned paper I've been dying to play with, m' chrysanthemum stamp, some bracket shaped dies, and proceeded to have a lotta fun!

For a little added depth and dimension on the focal image, I inked with several hues of chalk ink, did some detail Spica pen work, and, then took it just a wee bit further with some Stickles.

Because my base card was 4.25" square, to accommodate the layout I needed to make sure the focal panel was narrow enough to allow for the sentiment on the right, so I used one of my favorite techniques, "Outside the box", leaving the leaf to overhang.  There is a hint of black in the patterned paper, so I decided to mat the focal layer with black, and then carry that through by using Black Pretty Pearls where the sketch suggested some form of embellishment.

PC will be giving away several copies of this issue at random, so be sure to leave a comment at Paper Crafts Connection  for a chance to win!

Here's a list of all the girls participating in this hop:
