Patterened paper

Back with another guest design for Lawnscaping Challenge #40: Make Your Own PATTERNED PAPER WITH STAMPS

Fun or what?!!! Some seriously fab faves going on here–Chevron, vibrant ombré hues, knock-out letters!

I clear embossed one of the chevron patterns from the Chevron Backdrops Set, and then rubbed some water-based dye inks over the top to create the ombré effect. And, the knock out die cut letters allow you to see the contination of the pattern without blocking it. LOVE!

Some tips:

  • If you're repeat stamping with Versamark to emboss an all-over background, it really helps to stamp one row, heat emboss it, and then you can see much better where to position the next row. It also helps to have a plastic tub with your embossing powder in it so you can just spoon it over top and let the excess fall back down into the tub; otherwise, if you use scratch paper, you have to stop to re-funnel it back into the jar each time. No likey!
  • Water-based dye inks such as Adirondack or Distress, tend to work extremely well for resist because they have the least amount of "drag" on the paper surface and can be buffed off the embossed areas easily with a tissue; inks with more permanent or non-bleed characteristics tend to either create more drag (tearing your sponging tool apart) OR they stain the embossing and can sometimes be impossible to buff off.

Thanks to Laurel, of the Lawnscaping Challenge blog, for inviting me to guest design (a.k.a. play!), and thanks to you for stopping by!

Hope this livened up your Mundane! *chortle*
