oct 2017 release collage

Hey, welcome, y’all! :)  Today’s the big day and the October Essentials by Ellen release is now available!

Today, I’m sharing a project using my new “Snailed It” stamp set (Snailed it Die Set):

Snailed it-004-je

This is a super easy peek-a-boo card, made by simply hiding the snail behind two die cut leaves that are secured to the card with a mini-brad–just pivot the leaves to reveal her bidding you a friendly hello! :)

Yes, I squealed after making this and bounced off my chair. *big cheesey grin*

I really love how shading directly on the solid images with the Avery Elle pigment inks looks! Stamping the leaves onto a lighter green card stock makes a great two-tone effect, too.

That little scallop border beneath the sentiment was made by inking up just one of the rows of scallops from a backdrop image in Wonky Backdrops, and I just hand-drew her facial features with a fine tip marker.

This is SUCH a fun set to build little garden scenes with! I was going for a “hand-carved”/linocut style.  What do you think?

  1. This is an amazing set! I love everything about it!! It’s so fun and whimsical, and can be used for any occasion. Your card is fabulous! I love the little snail peeking out from behind the foliage. What I love even more is that you can move the leaves back and forth. You could play peek-a-boo for hours, lol. So very creative!

  2. I think it’s adorable. Almost too real cuz that snail reminds me of the slugs that like my lettuce way too much! I’m looking forward to Thistle projects. What a great design.

  3. Such a darling card. The snail is so cute. She is so vibrantly dressed for the occasion you’d think she had more to do than just say hello; such as a date maybe. Lol. Love all the stamps.

  4. This is such a sweet card !!

  5. Making the snail and shell separate, so it can be used as a slug is brilliant. Julie, you rock! Love the sentiments.
