Super Sweet Pineapple Card

HA PINE 1 web

Pineapples. Maybe it’s my Filipino background. Maybe it’s because it happens to be trending/has been trending for awhile.

And, maybe, just maybe I simply like pineapples and they make me smile.  The instant I laid eyes on this die, a bunch of ideas piled up in a jumbled mess inside my head.

So, this is one of four ideas I made recently.  I just played.  Non-stop. Because sometimes you just gotta ride that wave… Especially if you’re stuck creatively  with everything else.  And, I have been really, really stuck.  (oh, hey, was that a pun???!!! BAH HA HAAAAA!!!)

So, this was good, because #1. I had a blast.  #2. I ended up with 4 cards I love. #3. They are so purdy!

HA PINE DIE 1a web

To make this card:

  1. Die cut pineapple on a panel of watercolor paper (the die only cuts the details and does not cut the whole shape out).
  2. Color as desired–I watercolored.
  3. Allow to dry or speed dry with a heat tool.
  4. Spatter with black ink. Dry again.  Trim down 1/4″ all around.
  5. Pop details out.
  6. White emboss a greeting on scrap black card stock and staple to the panel.
  7. Mount to patterned paper; mount all to a base card (This one is a standard A-2, 4.25 x 5.5″)
  8. Embellish with glitter glue.

I love how the patterned paper peeks out from behind the die cut details… Such a fun, clever effect! :)

Totally Fabulous!

Totally fabulous WEB1

This was such a fun die set to develop for the Ellen Hutson 9th Anniversary celebration! And, this card??? Also super fun to make using the dies!

“Totally” was die cut over the top of the stamped light rays from the Merry & Bright holiday stamp set–I’m all about the repurposing of holiday images whenever possible… :)  The letters on this die are designed to remain attached along the bottom and pop-out, and were inspired by a project Ellen herself had done for a newsletter article using a partial die-cutting technique with tissue paper back in 2012! SO fun! And, it reminds me that I need to get more colors of tissue paper to duplicate that *uber* cool rainbow effect!

Totally fabulous WEB2

“Fabulous” was die cut 3 times and then glued together to create a faux chipboard effect.  I thought about applying a high gloss glaze to it, but it looks kinda velvety in contrast to the shimmery gold Delicata ink and the Stickled edges so, being the “less is more” kinda gal that I am and loving it just as it was,  I let it be… That’s a hard thing to do sometimes, but when I looked at it hours later, I still felt the same way. LOL!

**While supplies last, this two piece die set will be included in all orders placed during the Anniversary celebration HERE at  Ellen Hutson LLC that total $75+ (after discounts and excluding S & H fees)!**  Awesome or what?!

Hope the video sparked some creative ideas for using it!
