I was over in the CLASSroom yesterday (link above) with a fun and easy interactive card video. Check it out, when you get a chance–I loved makin’ those things!

I’ve got lots of irons in the fire lately, including these upcoming classes in Sacramento

As always, too much to do, and not enough day.  Or me. Hah!

Last weekend, the Mister & I booked a rare, last-minute (literally) weekend down in Seattle, to attend the Home Show…  It was mostly contractors and service providers that serve the Seattle area… We learned a few things, but I was kind of disappointed (in the show itself), to be honest… I guess I thought it would be bigger (I mean, Seattle, right?!), and there would be more manufacturers exhibiting?  I thought we’d see a lot more innovative design kinds of things… like faucets, lighting, flooring and countertops, storage solutions… It was interesting for us to note that in the area we live, there is such high demand that contractors and builders have full/booked out schedules…

But, it was a fun weekend and we enjoyed a few restaurants that we’d never been to before–we love good eats! :)

In the downtown area, check out Lola’s  and/or  Dahlia Lounge.  We had fantastic and out-of-the-ordinary breakfasts at each of these places!  And, based on the crowds, they are both very popular dining spots–I imagine their lunch and dinner dishes are equally fabulous!

Hope your week is going splendid!

Coffee Rings and Droplets…

My dad always kids me that what I call coffee, is really “glorified cocoa”…  He drinks it black, and I can’t drink it at all without all the fun stuff (you know, the stuff that slathers the pounds to your behind). Whatever, Dad! *hair flip* ;)

Nevertheless, I love my coffee, and I love coffee stamps, and these ideas for coffee cards with the “Oh, frappé!” stamp set just keep swirling in my head.

Like most of my favorite cards, this one is pretty simple–and relatively clean! *chuckle*

Hope your week has been good–I’m excited about a weekend getaway with the Mister, that includes the Home Show… We finally have a contractor lined up and are starting the remodel on our house… I’m excited and terrified all at the same time…  Bracing myself for lots of idea overload… And wine.  Hah!

Coffee cards have been on my brain lately.  I may just have to keep making coffee cards until I get them all worked out of my system…

TIPS:

  • I used a ceramic mixing palette to dilute my Gansai Tambi–I love the brush tip of my Pentel Aquash, but sometimes using it alone makes it hard to get less concentrated color so I just loaded the tip with color, smeared it around in one of the palette wells (petals), and then squeezed the reservoir of the water-brush to add more water a little at a time to the colors I was working with.  Note:  A ceramic palette isn’t “necessary”; you could use a plastic one.  I’ve just always wanted one like this so I treated myself to it on my birthday.  :)
  • I prepped the surface of my black card stock with an anti-static pouch; this helps reduce stray embossing powder from sticking to unwanted areas due to any oils or moisture on the surface or static electricity.
  • After embossing the sentiment, I buffed away the residual anti-static powder with a Swiffer cloth to restore the rich black color of the paper.
  • I only needed to ink up the outer edges of the background stamp before stamping onto the base card, since the center would be concealed by the top layer.  The scratch paper on top kept my fingers clean.
  • I’m glad I hang onto any and all scraps of Real Wood Sheets–they’re perfect for making my own wood veneer embellishments on the fly with my dies! *fist pump*
