Today is a good day to sparkle…

Today during a LIVE broadcast I shared some tips for working with sequins over on the Ellen Hutson LLC Facebook Page.  I have to admit, Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins are so much a favorite, that I have them in all sizes. All.  They have this “glassy”, almost mirror -like quality to them that I just can’t get enough of.

This is the card I actually made.  I had to have a card to demo on, because it would kill me to glue all those sequins down for nothin’, right?!

I was practicing my Distress Oxide Ink skills.  True story:  This was my 4th attempt at this particular card.  GAAAAH!!!  I wanted a drippy rainbow background.  With those cool water activated effects.  I discovered that the NUVO spray bottles emit the finest water mist out of all the spray bottles I have–super even, super fine! *fist pump* This made me exceedingly happy! I also used the straw from the nozzle on the Ranger Mister to splatter the larger droplets.

I’m not much of a techniques girl; I rarely, if ever, when trying a technique, get what I want the first time out.  Or the 2nd time out.  Or even the 3rd.  But, once I figure out how to get what I want quickly, with consistency, I’m more likely to do it again in the future.  LOL!  And, yes, this was messy.  Had to wear gloves. Oh, the horror…!!!

The “Sparkle” die was cut through the watercolored panel and then popped up on a Fun Foam base (die cut) and then coated with Clear Wink of Stella, and then again with Glossy Accents.  In hindsight, I would have die cut it from the watercolor panel just a little higher, to encompass more of the colorful drips.

Have a fab Monday! :)

UNITED WE CONQUER! Ellen Hutson BCRF Fundraiser

This project has been a highly personal endeavor for Chaitali, Ellen and I because all three of our beloved mothers have battled breast cancer; Chaitali and Ellen’s mothers lost their battle.  I am very lucky that my own mama is currently a 3+ year survivor.  You can read our family’s story here:  My Amazing Mom

Because of our three amazing mothers, we teamed up to find a way that we could make a difference–to honor them and actively contribute to finding a cure for breast cancer. Together we created the Courage Stamp & Die Set.

$25 of the purchase price of each Courage Stamp & Die Set will be donated to

the Breast Cancer Research Foundation

We know that many of you are affected by this disease or other forms of cancer and we are turning to you for help. After much research our team made the decision to support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  BCRF is the highest rated breast cancer organization in the nation. To learn more about BCRF please visit their website at https://www.bcrfcure.org/

Through this fundraiser, it is our goal to educate and raise money for research and support services for patients and survivors battling breast cancer.  Research has led to incredible advancements in treatment and while there is no cure today, I believe research will find it and it is my hope that breast cancer will become something my daughter and her daughter will never have to contend with because we ended it, once and for all.

Will you join us?

Donate, stamp, share, create—there are many ways you can contribute!  Visit the Ellen Hutson BCRF fundraiser page to find out how and to follow our progress.  Together we can #BeTheEnd !
I so appreciate the designers joining us today and contributing their talents!

And, thank you for joining us in the battle against breast cancer–United we conquer!

Sunshine spinner web 01

On a whim, I sketched out this idea I had for a penny spinner card, which involved rotating the slider channel upside down.  Whaaaaat…?  I know; I’m just weird that way… !!!  *chinkle*  Watch the Hyperlapse video to see the creative process from start to finish!

  • Make sure your foam mounting tape does not impede the movement of the penny-slider along the channel.
  • Double-layer your foam tape to provide enough clearance for the mechanism to spin/slide freely.
  • The 3D adhesive foam dot I used to make my penny spinner was from my stash and I had thrown the packaging away so I do not know the source.  But, it was 1/8″ thick, and approx. 1/4″ in diameter.
    • My spinner/slider cards tend to perform best with ROUND pop up dots, but these can be hard to find nowadays because manufacturers seem to be making only square ones… BUT…
    • You can actually DIY your own ROUND self adhesive pop up dots by applying Be Creative Tape to both sides of a piece of Fun Foam and then punching through it with a 1/4″ hole punch.

Thanks for stopping by!
