Happy Thanksgiving!

Acorn on Kraft WEB1

It didn’t hit me until just now, but I guess this could be considered a form of “brushless” watercolor, because I didn’t actually use a paintbrush at all on this! *chortle*

There are no mind-blowing techniques involved–just some gold embossing with a bit of spritzing/splashing.  But, it was so relaxing and soothing… just to play… I didn’t know if I was even going to end up with an actual card when I started, LOL!

The video is high speed, set to music; I just left it on while I played with my Stains… :)

Wishing y’all a Happy and peaceful Thanksgiving…

‘Tis The Season: A plethora of ideas…

Tis season grp WEB

One of my favoritest–truly–stampy things to do is take a set and develop a bunch of different ideas with it. These have all been rolling around in my head for ‘Tis The Season and  it was really fun to make ‘em real!  And, I tried to film ‘em in the process.  Well, you know what they say about the road to Hades being paved with good intentions… I won’t tell you about my week, but suffice it to say that there were numerous interruptions to the mojo that ultimately led to me not realizing I hadn’t turned the camera back ON, after each interruption.   Yeaaaaaahhhhh.  In the grand scheme of life, this is nothing, really, but it does make a girl cranky… #cursewords  Keepin’ it real, folks… Just keepin’ it real…

Thanks for giving the video a thumbs’ up on YouTube!

Tis he knows WEB1

(Not in the video).  This is a speedy quick 4 bar size card (3.5 x 5″); stamp the two sentiments inside a kraft note card, wrap it with twine and Bob’s yer uncle!

Tis he knows WEB2

Perfect for those who are more the “no fuss, no muss” type. ‘Nuff said.

Tis car WEB

I love that little car…. The camera was off on this one…. *sigh*  Stamp with bleed-proof ink, watercolor it, die cut it, white emboss a greeting, and slap it onto a woodgrain card with a messy thread nest and sequins. Swipe some Stickles on there, and call it a day.

Tis lights WEB1

Again, camera was off. But, I love.  LOVE!!!

Tis lights WEB2

The tangle lights were clear embossed over black pigment ink, colored quickly and die cut. Masked off a section on the top panel and sponged ink, allowing it to fade as I moved towards the top. I seem to do a better blending job on Bristol than Neenah Solar White. Hard to tell in the pic, but I brushed a little Wink of Stella over the tops of the bulbs for some subtle sparkle.   Did I say I love this card?

Tis sweater WEB

Camera was on for this one. *insert rolling eyeballs* I love making my own tags with the WRMK Angle Corner Chomper; no limits to size, and the thing can punch through multiple layers of card stock at the same time! *fist pump*  Wish I were skinny enough to fit into that sweater… *sigh*

Tis Santa WEB

In the video. I forced myself to use some Lawn Fawn patterned paper I’ve been hoarding….

Tis ginger WEB1

Yay! Ginger made the video! I think the glittery stripes helped set the whole thing off…

Hope these inspire!

Share Handmade Kindness…

SHMAK BOX WEB

My buddy Jennifer McGuire has launched a pretty cool project, and one I’m pretty honored to participate in! You can read more about that right here:  Share Handmade Kindness

I’m a little late to the party, but when she first contacted me, I was (am) so honored to have been invited to participate! They say better late than never, right?! So, here I am with my small, but hopefully helpful bit!

The video is not intended to be a tutorial, but more of a sharing some info about the project, and some ideas for getting involved, and some card ideas I made.

Yes, we are makers of cards–it’s what we do. But, I think Jennifer is right on the mark:  The joy of creating something is equaled, or even surpassed by the sharing of that creation.  You can support The Kind Campaign by making a donation, and/or purchasing the stamps created for the movement by Hero Arts–they are donating 25% of the proceeds of the sale of the stamps to The Kind Campaign! Pretty doggone awesome, right?!

Spreading kindness through our art & craft is just one avenue–there are many other ways. In essence it’s more an attitude, than anything else.  Kindly spoken words, even to a complete stranger, never fade and take only a scant few seconds of time…

More kindness? Yes, we’d love some!
