Pretty Pink Posh Hop

Welcome to the Pretty Pink Posh Blog Hop! Paulina has released some fun new dies and I chose to feature the multi-window for a fun shaker card! It’s so cool that you can rotate the window, depending on the type of window you want–I went vertical for this one!

And, those little yellow sequins just made me thing of sunshine so this happy little scene is where my brain went!

Pretty Pink Posh has 2 $25 gift certificates up for grabs, so please leave a comment on my post here (directly on this blog post, not Facebook, etc.) to toss your name into the hat! Comments need to be left by 11:50 PM PST on June 8th, 2014!

Here’s a list of all the hoppers where you can stop to leave a comment to enter:

Pretty awesome sauce, right?! Enjoy the hop and thanks for stopping by!

Awesome news!

My friend and fellow cardmaker, Cristina Kowalczyk, has some exciting news. She’s also an author (she writes under her maiden name – Cristina Henriquez), and her novel, The Book of Unknown Americans, comes out TODAY! To celebrate, I, along with a few other crafty friends, are helping her spread the word about her book.

Henríquez 12.11

Ben Fountain said it was “a triumph of storytelling,” Heidi Julavits called it “extraordinary,” and Amazon editor Chris Schluep chose it as his “must read for summer,” saying, “This novel snuck up on me. It’s moving and beautifully written, never overwrought, and I read it virtually in one sitting. It’s compelling, tragic, sometimes funny, uplifting and heart-wrenching. I can’t stop thinking about these people.”

Cristina is giving away 5 signed, first-edition copies of The Book of Unknown Americans. And because this is all about spreading the word, there are four ways to enter.

  1. Tweet about The Book of Unknown Americans (#UnknownAmericans)
  2. Write a Facebook post telling your friends about the book
  3. Pin the cover of the book on Pinterest
  4. Or simply leave a comment on Cristina’s blog

If you do all four of those, that’s four entries! (On Cristina’s blog, submit one comment per entry. For example: “I tweeted!” “I put it on FB!” “I pinned it!” etc.)

From all the comments on her blog, Cristina will choose 5 people to win a copy of the novel. Plus, one lucky person will win the grand prize, a signed book plus a giant stash of craft supplies – stamps, dies, inks, you name it!

For more info about the book and other ways that you can show your support, head over to Cristina’s blog. (comments here are closed because you need to go to Cristina’s blog to comment!)

So proud of my friend–this is such an amazing accomplishment!

Congratulations, chica!!! Standin’ “O”!!!

Quick Share: Nautical Card Set

Made these a bit ago, but haven’t had time to blog ‘em…

I never ever get tired of nautical themes, but sometimes I get stuck in a rut, using the same traditional color palette (red, white & blue, of course…). This time I wanted to make something softer but still retain a “freshness”.

Despite my adoration of patterned papers, combining patterns has never been one of my strong suits and I often collect mountains of the stuff but barely use it… Instead, I ogle it, pet it… Hoard it… *sad face*

But this particular shade of patterned blues from the Basic Grey Spice Market collection looked *so* pretty with this gorgeous shade of Cantaloupe ink by Hero Arts, that I took a deep breath, and forged ahead by adding stripes.

I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! *monkey clapping all around*

I had pre-cut a bunch of the little Summer dies by Savvy from white card stock and had them sitting in a baggy waiting for me to determine what color I wanted them to be… whipped out a marker to color them a deep rich blue. They look so gosh darn cute popped up within the mini photo frame die! EEP!!! Can’t take it!

Can’t wait for summer to get here–I feel a clam bake comin’ on… :)
