Musing today . . .

and possibly procrastinating on getting some much needed housework and stamping done . . .

I have been contemplating my progression as an art stamper. When I first started, I tried to incorporate a lot of techniques/embellishments all in one design, and frequently ended up with a mish mash. At that time, I also started with very cute country images, as they seemed to dominate the market at that time.

I’ve noticed that my taste in art stamps has evolved greatly, as the industry itself has evolved, and finding my own art “style” has been a long process, considering I’ve been stamping for 12 years?! I wonder if it will always be an evolving process, or if there is a magic point at which I will experience an “Aaaaah, YES!!!!! *THIS* is IT!!!!” . . .

Part of the twist in all this, is my love for so many different kinds of stamps. Someone once asked what my favorite companies were, and once I started, the list seemed to be never-ending! Ever since becoming a demonstrator for one DSA company, I must confess that many of my other favorite stamps have sat long neglected . . . I think I “miss” them? . . . I need to drag out my step-ladder and pull them down from those upper shelves, and see what comes from playing with them now, as opposed to when I first bought them . . .

Well, I spent some time

messin’ about, and trying to organize things into albums, but it’s sooooo time-consuming . . . so, I started all over again and rebuilt the album, leaving it as a single. Maybe later, if it becomes mammoth, I’ll attempt to organize it more, but for now, I will leave it as is.

Meantime, here’s yet another design that had pleasant results when I backed up and decided to simplify what I was doing. I ended up sending this a long time ago to my dear friend, Gail, who is an avid gardner (and stamper, too!).

Thought for today . . .

Mistakes in knitting are not as easily remedied as they are in stamping. Or, perhaps I do not *know* enough to easily fix my mistakes without having to unravel the entire scarf and start all over . . . while I intend to persevere (with the knitting, that is), it does increase my appreciation for the relative ease of stamping and paper crafting . . . I can fix those mistakes so easily and quickly! LOL!
