Sometimes life throws you a curve ball…

I wanted to mention that I will be taking a temporary leave from filming the Hello, Monday video series and from sharing much of anything creative here on the blog over the coming weeks.

Some of you may already be aware of this news, due to the my recent post over in the CLASSroom, but I am repeating it here, for those of you that may have missed it:

My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and will be undergoing surgery very soon. I need to be there for her during this time and to help my parents through her recovery.

In light of this recent development within my own family, I want to take a moment to urge all of you to please take time and care of yourselves with regularly scheduled self-exams, clinical exams and mammograms.  Early detection makes a tremendous difference and saves lives. One of many helpful resources online is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

I greatly appreciate all of you that regularly visit here and look forward to resuming things when I return.

Thank you for your understanding, and all your support.

Quick Share…

Just sharing about some projects/articles I had done for the CLASSroom and the In Touch newsletters:

Some kraft themed wedding invites and inspiration boards on Pinterest inspired me to try my hand at this rustic fall card for my most recent Hello, Monday video, using a great set by Hero Arts called Leaves Autumn.  The different elements in this set are versatile enough to use as stand-alone images, accents on more elaborate cards or even tags. I had to shoot the project at night, however, and just couldn’t capture the gorgeous sparkle of the Platinum Stickles as it shows IRL. Since it comes in Ice Stickles AND in DRY loose glitter, those are also gonna have to come live at my house soon… despite the fact that my glitter/Stickles drawer has already exceeded maximum capacity…

I must admit to still being smitten with the chalkboard style/trend. There’s just something about the black and white contrast that really appeals to me! For the holiday card on the upper left, I pulled an assortment of images and greetings from all the new Hero Arts Holiday Wood Mounts and was astonished at how easily that particular design came together–a whole lotta monkey clappin’ on that one, I tell ya’. *wink*

It was fun to make the die cut label (there are a lot of fun label style dies that would work well for this, in so many different sizes) from Chalkstock for the card on the lower left (be sure to read the tips in the article about that; you’ll be glad you did), and after the article published, I got to thinking how cool it would be to present food gifts at the holidays in clear glass jars with those on the front, writing on them with real chalk, of course, so the recipient can erase the original message and reuse the jar for their own pantry, etc. Um, hello, I am BRILLIANT!!! (arms wrapped ’round self, deep chortling)

That’s all I have to share for now… I will be taking a temporary leave for several weeks due to a family emergency.
